U.S. Open Predictions (Quarters / Semis)

"Rain Rain go away, that's what all my haters say." - Wocka Flocka

Wocka Flocka speaks so eloquently and on behalf of all tennis fans at this point. Fortunately we were able to get through all of the 4th round matches as Rafeal Nadal and Andy Murray made quick work of G. Muller and Donald Young respectively. And the two Americans, Andy Roddick and John Isner, each needed 4 sets to dismiss their counterparts setting up a Nadal/Roddick and Murray/Isner Quarterfinal for the bottom half of the draw.

At the top half of the draw Novak Djokovic advanced over fellow countrymen Janko Tipsarevic by way of a fourth set retirement. Roger Federer looked all types of impressive as he made quick work of the usually pesky #12 seed Jo-Wilfried Tsonga, setting up a Djokovic (1) v. Federer (3) semi-final

For today's Quarterfinal matchup predictions - please read after the jump...

Nadal/Roddick - In their 4th round matches, Nadal got off to a sluggish start again Muller - while Roddick came out firing against Ferrer (15 aces in the first two sets). For Roddick to have any chance against the 10-time Grand Slam champion his serve will have to be beyond great. Quick points and no room for unforced errors. That's the gotta be Roddick's game plan as he knows Nadal will wear him down in longer points and eventually outlast him if it were to go the distance. As much as I'll be rooting for A-Rod to pull off the upset, money is money - and putting anything on Roddick is ill-advised. Take Nadal -500 to win in 4 sets and reach his fourth straight U.S. Open semi-final.

Murray/Isner - Every time I watch Isner play - I'm amazed at how well he moves for a 6'9" behemoth. I borderline think he's going to just topple over at the sheer thought of approaching the net. Isner did a fine job of using his overpowering serve and strong forehand against Simon - but Murray is not Simon. I could see at least one tiebreaker but I think Murray's game is more complete and he should have no trouble advancing to the Semis for a great matchup against Nadal. Take Murray -600 to win in 3 Sets.

Djokovic / Federer and Nadal/Murray ... doesn't get any better than that. Enjoy
